The erstwhile demagogue who calls himself the American president abruptly withdrew American troops from Syria — knowing that doing so would ensure the annihilation of the Kurds (American allies) by Turkish forces.
Simply put: He set the Kurds up for mass slaughter.
Children, women, soldiers who fought alongside our own American troops to keep ISIS at bay — ultimately protecting the lives of innocents throughout the world — were assigned to die. By the American President.
The genocide of the Kurds is now underway, and their blood will ooze from his hands for the remainder of his life. Officials from his own party decried his actions, and begged him to rescind his decision, but he would not be moved. Like the cold-hearted Pharaoh of old, the edict had been delivered. Die they must.
I know why he did it.
The President of the United States orchestrated their mass murder in order to win the favor, admiration and praise of the world’s ruthless dictators he so admires — and now emulates. He once expressed his wish to become “president for life”. He said of the brutal North Korean dictator Kim Jung Un, “He’s the head of a country, and he’s the strong head, don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.” Also, his fixation with — and defense of — the murderer Putin is well documented.
And there is yet another reason why —in the ‘mind’ of DJT — he could justify the massacre of the Kurds. They were “others”. You know, those human beings he has deemed to be sub-human, with lives that hold little or no value at all (compared to his and those just like him.)
“Why do we want all these people from ‘sh*thole countries’ coming here?” he asked in 2018, referring to Haiti and Africa. He suggested that instead, people from countries like Norway should come to the U.S.
In 2017, he said, “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”
He has separated LatinX babies and children from their parents at the southern border. As detainees, they live under inhumane conditions in which disease and misery festers — and deaths occur.
Speaking of his idol, Kim Jung Un, he said, “Hey, he’s the head of a country, and I mean, he’s the strong head, don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.”
He said, “There were very fine people on both sides” — referring to the White Nationalist march in Charlottesville.
He threw paper towels to a crowd of survivors in Puerto Rico ravaged by Hurricane Maria.
He mocked a Muslim Gold Star family.
I haven’t the ability to comprehend just how any American could defend this madman; a mentally ill person completely devoid of rational, humanitarian, compassionate, or just moral leadership. A man who has now committed heinous crimes against humanity.
Rabbi Joachim Prinz, a celebrated American civil rights activist who was expelled from Nazi Germany in 1937, proclaimed at the March on Washington on August 28, 1963 that, “America must not become a nation of onlookers. America must not remain silent.” The atrocities being wrought now. against the Kurds must awaken us to the reality that silence is tacit agreement with the madman’s sinister agenda.
I pray, dear reader, that you will pledge not to be silent in the name and in the defense of the tens of thousands who will now perish at the hands of a madman.
I hope to hear your clearly raised voice very soon. It may yet save some of the blameless that have been condemned to death.
